JCRC - Building Bridges Through:

Israel Advocacy and Education - Maintaining strong support for Israel’s security and prosperity through ongoing programming, information and intervention.
Public School Dialogue - Working with administrators, faculty and parents to ensure awareness of and sensitivity to such issues as Jewish history and identity, discrimination and religious holidays and practice.
Government Affairs - Communicating with public officials through private meetings and public forums. Taking action on public policy issues and exploring funding opportunities in concert with other Jewish communities and organizations.
Holocaust Education - Programming to enhance understanding of the Holocaust and its contemporary relevance to genocide.
Social Action/Community Service - Cooperating with religious, civic and charitable organizations in the spirit of Tikkun Olam to improve the quality of life in Wake County and surrounding areas.

 

 

In December, 2008, a contingent of 38 Triangle Jews, led by Raleigh’s Saul Berenthal, took a mission to Jewish Cuba, sponsored by Beth Meyer Synagogue and assisted by the Raleigh-Cary Jewish Community Relations Council.  Click the banner to read one couple's reflections.

In consultation with the JCRC of San Francisco, we are pleased to feature the 'Israel 101' series, which briefly describes the history of the state of Israel from pre-Zionism to the modern day Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "Israel 101" can be a particularly helpful tool in the classroom. 

Israel Conversion Bill: JFNA's Response

The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) has articulated concern about a proposed bill in Israel’s Knesset amending Israel’s Law of Return. One proposed change could affect those who convert to Judaism after spending time in Israel, and potentially prevent them from immigrating under the Law of Return and gaining automatic Israeli citizenship.
