Foundation assets are held in various funds, some of which serve specific purposes selected by the donors and some of which can be used for a large variety of community activities. The largest number of Foundation funds are donor advised, meaning that the Federation Board can use the funds for support of the Federation and its many beneficiary agencies and institutions after soliciting the advice of the donor or donor's family.
The Foundation pools its resources with similar agencies such as the Greensboro Community Foundation and uses the services of an investment advisor to maximize return. Decisions are then made by the Federation Board with the advice of the Foundation Committee.
It is the hope of the Federation Board that contributions to the Foundation, along with investment earnings, will insure continuity of existing programs and services as well as encourage new ways of enhancing Jewish life in the community.
