JFS Community Connections: 2019 Good Deeds Day

facebook-covers_july2016_4.jpg

Good Deeds Day is an annual tradition of good deeds. All over the world, hundreds of thousands choose to volunteer and help others, putting into practice the simple idea that every single person can do something good, be it large or small, to improve the lives of others and positively change the world.

The Raleigh-Cary community has been participating in Good Deeds Day since 2013. JFS plans and coordinates projects for the entire community to take part in. In 2018, over 460 volunteers from the Raleigh-Cary Jewish community participated in 20 projects to better the Triangle community.

Ready to sign up for a project? Choose your way to do good!

JFS Senior Connections: Redefining Aging (and how positive thinking can help)

For many older adults, negative cultural stereotypes about aging influence how we think and feel about getting older. The impact of negative thinking often affects us emotionally and inhibits our true potential. There are certain realities about growing older we cannot change. However, there is much we can do to redefine what it means to be older and live productively.

Join Abby Palmer MSW, JFS Senior Services Social Worker to explore how ageism affects us as we grow old. We will focus on the benefits of redefining aging, being proactive and thinking positively.
