Development Director

POSITION SUMMARY

The Jewish Federation of Raleigh-Cary is actively recruiting for a full-time Development Director. The Greater Raleigh area, in general, and the Jewish community specifically, are experiencing enormous and sustained growth. This Development Director role is a newly created position established to optimize our Development opportunities. We seek an enthusiastic, outgoing individual with a creative approach to fundraising who can continue to excite our existing donor base as well as successfully engage the broader community.

Raleigh is one of the best places in the country to live as evidenced by high rankings in publications like Forbes, U.S. News, and Money Magazine. The Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill “Research Triangle” area boasts several major universities, low cost of living, easy access to green space, a major tech hub, and a wide variety of cultural activities including world-class museums, restaurants and music.

For the Director role, the desired candidate will be a self-motivated, strategic professional with a background in fundraising for major gifts, dedicated or focused giving, development of corporate sponsorships, and donor cultivation, and having the ability to work across the entire community. Our ideal applicant must have a previous track record of success establishing and achieving development goals.

The Development Director will work in partnership with dedicated volunteers and professional colleagues at the Federation, including the Directors of Operations, JCC, JFS, and Facilities. The Development Director’s main responsibility will be to formulate a comprehensive plan to expand and optimize the Federation's income from the annual campaign and related fundraising sources including designated and planned gifts, special events, the capital campaign and grants.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the strategy and implementation of all fundraising initiatives and events, ranging from intimate gatherings to major fundraising events.

  • Direct the campaign solicitation process which includes goal setting and data-driven evaluation; donor rating and assignments; identification, recruitment, training, motivation and follow-up of volunteer campaigners.

  • Work in tandem with Agency Directors to coordinate a campaign calendar and to monitor fundraising targets.

  • Collaborate with Directors of Finance and Operations to achieve compliance with the Federation budget.

  • Assure that the performance of all Development staff is actively managed and that professional development and training opportunities are identified and implemented.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization, preferably in a Jewish Federation or Jewish communal agency.

  • Proven track record in the development and implementation of a comprehensive giving program including donor pipeline development, major gifts, annual giving, cultivation of corporate sponsorships or and running and developing community fundraising events.
