In 1933, Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Nazi Germany and almost immediately began implementing legal actions against Germany's Jews, depriving them of their civic, economic and human rights as German citizens. Five years later, a turning point in this anti Jewish
policy occurred with the events of Kristallnacht. Learn what specifically makes Kristallnacht recognized as a deeply significant turning point.
Shelly Bleiweiss has been a Holocaust educator for over 25 years. He has served as a mental health counselor on a ?March of the Living? trip to Poland and was selected by Yad Vashem's International School of Holocaust Studies to be part of their seminar, ?Teaching the Holocaust.? For the past 11 years Shelly has been a Holocaust instructor at the OLLI programs of Duke U. & NC State. A member of the NC State Council on the Holocaust and the Holocaust Speakers Bureau, Shelly has spoken to teachers, hundreds of school children, and numerous community, church and civic organizations throughout NC.
