The Raleigh-Cary Community Chevra Kadisha, a nationally registered, community-wide Jewish burial society, handles everything from the time of death until after the interment, including washing and dressing the body (taharah) and watching over it (shmira).
The Yamim Noraim, which invite us to reflect on life, mortality, and the ways we show up for each other, are a natural time to deepen our understanding of the history, practices, and profound spiritual significance of the Chevra.
All are welcome to join the Chevra leaders and Rabbi Jenny for an evening of learning and discovery about this holy work — and how you can get involved. For inspiration, read this testimonial from a volunteer — The Secret Society of the Chevra Kadisha.
