Phil Friday: Unacceptable

By now, you have probably read the despicable comments that Ye/Kanye West made on Alex Jones' talk show.

These comments are both terrible and dangerous. The Jewish Federation joins with Jewish Federations of North America and all people of good faith in condemning these remarks in the strongest terms:

“There is nothing to like about Nazis or Hitler, the architect of the mass murder of 6 million Jews. Unfortunately, Ye’s latest comments continue to amplify antisemitism and hatred, the breeding grounds for physical violence against the Jewish people. It’s time for those with big platforms who give him a stage to realize they are complicit.”

Antisemitism is growing right both nationally and in our backyard. From celebrities normalizing hateful rhetoric, to white supremacist groups hanging banners over highways, to antisemitic fliers distributed right here in Raleigh neighborhoods. This is happening, and our community is not immune.

In response, the Jewish Federation has done and will continue to do the following:

Phil Brodsky chats with Wake County Commissioner Sig Hutchinson and JCRC Government Affairs Liaison Mark Goldhaber.

  • Meeting with government officials, interfaith community leaders, business owners, and media outlets to build our network of community allies. In this past last week alone, I have met with both Raleigh City Council members and led a workshop about antisemitism for the Town of Cary.

  • Informing law enforcement agencies about the dangers of antisemitism and ensuring our Jewish community remains a priority. Our JCRC Law Enforcement Liaison Janis Zaremba has cultivated close relationships with police chiefs and informs them immediately of incidents.

  • Speaking up in local TV news, newspapers, and radio, like when I spoke for CBS17 about the antisemitic flyers distributed in Raleigh.

  • Educating our community to keep everyone informed on what is happening. Watch our community briefing on Extremists & Their Propaganda.

  • Facilitating communication among synagogue security leaders and bringing security experts to guide Jewish community leadership.

Together we can increase the support for and safety of our Jewish community, and with your help, we can continue to amplify your voice.

Will you consider a donation today to ensure the Jewish Federation remains strong against antisemitism?

Thank you for your support.

Shabbat Shalom,

Phil Brodsky
