Program Description: “The Apple That Was Stolen from the Synagogue: A Strange Story from Medieval England” with Dr. Evyatar Marienberg, Dept of Religious Studies, UNC Chapel Hill
In the middle of the 13th century an object was stolen from a synagogue in southern England. King Henri III himself was calling for an inquiry. What was that object? Why was it stolen? Dr. Marienberg will suggest a solution that might be related to the upcoming High Holidays.
